Position Summary

TPG is looking for a seasoned communications professional to join TPG’s growing Global Communications team full time in New York. This person will lead the team in developing and implementing communications and marketing strategies for TPG Angelo Gordon, the Firm’s diversified credit and real estate investing platform with $86 billion of AUM. The person who joins in this role will serve as the key communication partner/liaison to all of TPG Angelo Gordon’s businesses and stakeholders globally.

The ideal candidate for this role is a self-starter with excellent writing skills, financial communications and media relations experience, a strong understanding of credit and real estate markets, deep press and conference organizer relationships, thorough attention to detail and project management skills, sound judgement, and a devoted work ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic integrated communications and marketing strategy to support the TPG Angelo Gordon platform across its credit and real estate strategies.

  • This includes leading transaction support, proactive and reactive media relations, social media, thought leadership, speaking engagements, awards, and issues management.

  • Maintain visibility of current and emerging issues and opportunities across credit and real estate markets, sharing market intelligence with investment and other teams and advising on communications considerations, as appropriate.

  • Build and maintain strong network across portfolio managers, product specialists, fundraising, operations, and other internal stakeholders to inform communications strategies and execute upon them efficiently and effectively.

  • Play a hands-on role in written materials, content drafting, and production for various situations and stakeholders, including but not limited to press releases, LinkedIn posts, talking points, Q&As, thought leadership articles, internal memos, and award submissions.

  • Responsible for managing junior communications resource as well as PR and digital agency management and engagement.

  • Contribute to broader TPG Communications function priorities, including firmwide brand development, reputation, investor relations, and internal communications initiatives as required.

Qualifications

  • 7-10+ years of relevant experience in financial communications within an alternative asset management firm, investment bank, or financial communication agency.

  • Investment management experience is essential; knowledge of and interest in credit and real estate markets and strategies is strongly preferred.

  • Media relations experience and strong top-tier / trade and financial media relationships, including experience developing and executing various media strategies in a wide range of offensive and defensive scenarios.

  • Exhibits sound judgement, with a track record of engaging and building trust with senior executives. Can work independently and as a collaborative team member.

  • Ability to work across geographies and time zones and demonstrated flexibility of communication style to operate effectively. Business travel may be required.

  • Strong storytelling capabilities, ability to develop compelling, differentiated, and effective communications and timely content.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and ability to manage highly sensitive information with complete discretion.

  • Highly organized, hands-on, and detail-oriented individual that can multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
